Where can I take the TSI test?
You may test at a local Texas community college. The remote location may charge a proctor fee for using their site. Some colleges may allow their students to test for a lower cost or for free. Contact the TSI office here at UT for more information.
How much does the TSIA2 cost?
The full TSIA2 test (Math and English Language Arts and Reading – ELAR) costs $29 or $20 for ELAR only and $10 for Math or Essay only. Prepayment is required and test fees are non-refundable. You will not be able to retest the same day.
How long does the TSIA2 test take?
An updated TSIA exam (TSIA2) launched on January 11, 2021. The TSIA2 will take place of the current TSIA exam. If you meet the college readiness benchmarks with the previous version of the TSIA exam, the scores will be valid for 5 years from the date that you took the exam. The biggest difference between the two assessments is that, as of January 11, 2021, the original Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSI or TSIA) is no longer used to measure college readiness in the state of Texas. The new TSIA2 has replaced it.
Can I take the TSI test online?
The TSI Assessment exam is available online through Examity, a remote proctoring service for students who may not be able to test on campus due to COVID-19, who live out of state, or reside in a different country. Please note there is a list of requirements that need to be completed before taking the TSI exam online.
